FGCU Alma Mater
The alma mater's unveiling occurred at the May 2000 graduation ceremony. The words and music appeared in the bulletin and the graduating class of 2000 was the first to perform "Where Our Wings Will Take Us."

Colors
President Roy McTarnaghan selected emerald green and cobalt blue as symbols of the earth and water, in keeping with FGCU’s environmental mission.

Mascot
FGCU’s Founding The Eagle was adopted as the official symbol to reflect FGCU’s mission and purpose. The Eagle serves to identify not only the physical environment of Southwest Florida but also the University’s relationship with it. The Eagle embodies the characteristics of freedom, strength, spirit, intelligence, grace and the pursuit of excellence. It is master of its environment but also an integral part of it. It survives and prospers only in balance with the environment.

Dirty Birds
The Dirty Birds is the student fan group for FGCU Athletics. Its members are the standard bearers of Eagle Spirit, providing non-stop support for the Blue and Green.
